Frequently Asked Questions at Auction-Help

This page has been design so you can easily find answers to all your questions... Everytime we get asked the same question more than 3 times its added here.

  1. When will I receive payment for the items you have sold for me?

Once the buyer has confirmed receipt and is happy with the item, payment will be made by cheque or via PayPal. This can be anything up to 14-21 days after customer receives the item.

Please remember that we only ship out items to buyers after their payment (e.g. a cheque) has cleared. So depending on their swiftness and form of payment, this can sometimes delay the process a little.

A statement will be provided with full details of the sale with your payment.

  1. What items can I sell with Auction Help?

Bearing in mind that there are over 50,000 eBay categories, almost any item can be sold.

We suggest you have a look through you attic, garage, wardrobe of anything that is taking up space and is really no longer needed! A good clear out will make any one feel better and turn unwanted goods into cash!

Some of the items we have sold recently include, clothes (especially designer), DVD’s, CD players, TV’s etc, shoes, jewellery, furniture, the list really is endless!

  1. I have a large item which cannot be dropped off to you, what happens?

Please contact us and we can discuss through how we can sell the item for you

  1. What starting price will my item begin at?

We recommend to our customers to start the auction at 99p pence to encourage early bidding and to generate more interest, which often results in a higher final sale price.

Although we strive for the highest sale price, please note that Auction Help is legally required to accept the highest bid an item receives; we can not return it to you if it sells for less than you think it is worth.

Therefore, for high-value or unusual items we would recommend setting a reserve price.

Items should be thoroughly cleaned prior to drop off to us. Items should be wiped clean, polished and dusted, etc... If the item is not in sellable condition ‘Auction Help’ may choose to refuse the item or charge for its pre-sales cleaning. Items will be inspected, discussed with the seller. Please be advised ‘Auction Help’ reserves the right to refuse to accept or list any item it feels would compromise its reputation or an item whose condition may potential raise issues with any potential buyers. Seller is also responsible for picking up unsold items within 10 days of auction end or donating the unsold items. Items not collected start getting charged storage fees and after 30 days are deemed abandoned and disposed of.

  1. How long does the process take once the item has been dropped off to ‘Auction Help’?

All items are checked in on a first come first served bases. Please allow 3-5 business days for items to be professionally listed. We try to list items so they end at times when most people will have easy access to their computers.

  1. How long does the Auction run for?

We generally tend to list items for the standard 7 days from start to finish unless otherwise specified by seller. eBay offers a 3 day, 5 day and 10 day option. eBay charges extra for the 10 day option only. If a 10 day option is selected, then the extra fees will be payable upfront by the Seller.

  1. What if the item is damaged in transit to the buyer?

‘Auction Help’ uses extreme care in packaging your item so that it is received by the buyer safely. However, should postal loss or damage occur during transit, Seller is paid for sale the same as a transaction of an undamaged item. All buyers have the option to purchase shipping insurance before the item is paid for. If the buyer chose to buy insurance, then they would have to file a claim with the Post Office or shipping company who would be responsible for reimbursing the buyer for the full cost of the item. ‘Auction Help’ will not be liable or responsible for damages or loss as a result of shipping.

  1. What if my item does not sell?

Chances of your item selling on eBay are likely depending on the item, its condition and the opening bid price. If the item does not sell, ‘Auction Help’ offers a second chance listing at no extra charge. Seller will have the option of either placing their item into another 7 day auction on eBay or going into a fixed price sale, a 30 day listing in our eBay store

  1. What If the high bidder does not pay for my item?

Payment from buyer is required within 5 days from auction end. If high bidder does not pay within this time frame (plus a short grace period) item will be offered to the second highest bidder. ‘Auction Help’ fee is based on that selling price.

If there wasn’t a second bidder (or the second bidder declines) then the item will be relisted if the seller wishes to do so. ‘Auction Help’ does not charge seller to relist item that is non-pay. Standard fees apply when item is sold after relisting.

  1. What if the buyer wants to return my item?
In the unlikely event that there is a gross discrepancy in the description or photographs differ significantly from the item the buyer receives, a refund will be issued.

If ‘Auction Help’ made a description error, item will be relisted with an accurate description at no additional charge to Seller. If Seller made a description error or false statement, then the original listing fee plus the commission fee will remain payable and the Seller will be 100% liable for any refunds issued to the buyer.
